Regenerative agriculture is not a tactic, it's a system. And systems require design.

Work With Us

We work with people who are serious about their land.  If you own or manage property and you want to build something productive, resilient, and financially sustainable, you are in the right place. Our clients are self-motivated, values-driven, and read to invest the time and resources to do this properly.

Here's an article about why a regenerative ag consultant is invaluable to your project.

Typical clients include:

  • Landowners designing homesteads, family properties, or multigenerational estates.

  • Farmers and ranchers adding enterprises or transitioning to regenerative methods.

  • Absentee landowners ready to do something meaningful with commodity cropland.

  • Developers exploring agrivillages and regenerative communities.

  • Entrepreneurs building land-based or food-based businesses.

The First Step: strategic conversation to understand

  • Where you are now

  • What you're trying to build

  • What's getting in the way

    >> If it's a fit, we outline how we might work together.

Multi-Month Projects

Most clients choose to work together over several months. This allow us to:

  • Clarify vision and constraints

  • Collect land-specific data (topographic, wind, temps, ecology, sun angles, historic/record extreme weather patterns, rainfall, surface water, micro/macro watershed, aquifer, microclimate, wildlife, etc.)

  • Design land and enterprise systems together.

  • Test decisions before they become expensive.

  • Rapidly adapt as reality provides feedback.

 >> Resulting in greater confidence, better decisions, and a system that actually works.

Systems Thinking Approach

Bigger projects often take years to complete. This is particularly true in real estate development projects. Longer term contract engagements have the benefit of lower monthly prices as the overall cost of a project is offset over a long amount of time. These are usually contracted on a retainer basis with a pool of available hours, between 3-7k/month.

FAQs

I don't need a big project engagement, do you run bespoke webinars, clinics or classes?

Yes. These are considered speaking engagements and are priced either a flat day rate plus travel, or a fixed rate for a personalized webinar (one price regardless how many attendees).

Is an onsite visit necessary to do a land design?

No, although it is recommended. Free data available is not sufficient to create a high-quality plan. To offset this, we work with partners of ours - discreet technology and data firms - to purchase incredibly detailed data on land parcels. It costs less than a visit. However, a visit has the extra benefit of in-person data and immersive experience and ground-level observations that are often simply not possible from satellite (e.g. soil flora samples, wildlife and plant species identification, sound, scent, and water samples).

What's your price for site visit / travel?

$2800 for a visit plus actual travel expenses if a plane is required. For shorter local trips within driving distance, half-day plus travel expenses are available. Being located near Columbus Ohio, we are central to the entire eastern half of the united states.

Do you work with other specialists on complex projects?

Absolutely. We have experience working with landscape designers, engineers, and architects. Whether we are bringing in specialist partners of ours or working with your own team, we are flexible in how we work with key teammates to produce best results for our clients.

What's included in the Final Plan deliverable for homestead designs?

You will receive a thick pack of presentation materials and documentation on the findings specific to your land. This can be from 60-90 pages for bigger tracts of land. It includes data and diagrams covering the microclimate including historical weather data (rainfall, snowfall, wind, severe weather, temperature records, etc.) a base map, site and regional challenges, sector compass, growing zones, water survey, watershed maps, flow analysis, soil map and testing, local ecology (plants, animals, etc) permaculture zones plans, community data, and plans for goals, pathways fences and gates, water management and soil fertility, vegetation and yard details, and primary management recommendations. As you can see, you are getting an extremely comprehensive study that is specific to your land. It's a generational resource.

How is this different from what I'd get from a landscape architect or a permaculture designer?

Most landscape architects don't farm. Most permaculture designers don't build financial models. We do both. Every plan we create integrates ecological design with business strategy - because a regenerative system only succeeds long-term if it's financially sustainable. we also stay involved through implementation, which is where most design-only consultants stop.
